In response to the Barack Obama speech, The Imperfect Union that he gave on
March 18, 2008, I would have to say that race is a very important topic in our history today, but it was also
a very important topic then too. In past history you probbly already know that race was a big issue. Slavery
was part of that. People who were black were discriminate upon. they were thought of as less important then
whites. Therefore whites made the peopel of a different color their slaves. this was all they knew though. our founding
fathers made, in the constitution, a way to end this slavery. they knew that sometime or later it would have to be solved.
They said that all men are created equal and that it true. No man is less or more but equal. I think that his speech might influence people
to not be so racist. i think, thought that once you have been raised by a racist family there is no turning back. each generation is going to be racist whether
it is less and less. there still racist until the generations die off that have been taught racism. this speech might change the way people talk abbout this subject. they might be more or less understanding of race. i think if you learn of the topic well then you can change what people are doing well and like in his speech no one person can fix the problem, we all have to do it together.
